I’m an unusual backpacker. My first solo backpacking trip was at the age of 47, after careers in IT, strategy, and consulting. I always had wanderlust but had never taken as much as a 2-week vacation. After one bad project too many, I quit. I left what most people would call success to hit the road with a backpack. I booked a one-way ticket, and haven’t looked back.
Now I roam the world from one hostel to the other, sometimes with little or no plan at all. I’m almost always the oldest person in the dorm. Most of the people I meet are young and just starting out. They keep me young and engaged. I’m climbing temples, whitewater rafting, volcano boarding and…well.. who knows what’s next.
It’s never too late to live the life you want. I’m traveling the world, eating awesome local food, encountering fascinating people and having adventures with a spirit of humility, love, and awe.
I’m currently figuring out my home base and career options. We’ll see what turns up.
