Skydiving usually takes its place at the top of every adrenaline junkie's to-do list. For the vast majority of people, their first jump is often their last. Not because of an accident, but because this is generally a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

So with that being said, you should make sure the place you pick is as epic as the freefall. Below, you will discover some of the most interesting places around the world to skydive.

1. Snohomish

WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES

It’s a surprise to find a skydiving location nestled between the Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains. Skydivers can see mountains such as Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker and the rest of the Cascades as well as the Snohomish river below.

2. Oahu

HAWAII, UNITED STATES

One of the world’s premier surfing destinations just happens to be a kick-ass place to jump out of a plane. A great skydiving experience for everyone wanting to see this tropical island paradise from thousands of feet in the air.

3. Santa Barbara

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES

Some call this region of California the American Riviera. Skydiving here will give one aerial views of the slopes of Santa Ynez Mountains as well as the clear blue shores of the Pacific Ocean. An exhilarating experience you shouldn’t miss.

4. Florida Keys

FLORIDA, UNITED STATES

Enjoy the panoramic view above the Florida Keys including the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, coral reefs, and a lot more.

5. Niagara Falls

CANADA

What better way to see the majestic Niagara Falls than by jumping out of a plane from the skies above. Be careful not to take a wrong turn or you might end up in trouble with US border control.

6. Victoria Falls

ZAMBIA & ZIMBABWE

Described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800’s as ‘The Sme that Thunders’ and now known as the greatest curtain of falling water in the world, Victoria Falls is a spectacular sight for everyone to behold. Watching the waters’ indescribable panorama while sky diving is the main attraction for this location.

7. Namib Desert

NAMIBIA

The arid lands of Namibia is yet another totally different skydiving experience. Situated in southwestern Africa, long stretches of desert sand dunes and endless blue-sky makes for the perfect panoramic view.

8. Grand Bay

MAURITIUS

Another country relatively new to the skydiving scene, Mauritius is a volcanic island nation in the Indian Ocean, known for its beaches, lagoons and reefs. The good thing about skydiving here is that children can also experience their first ever skydive.

9. Cape Town

SOUTH AFRICA

One of the most southerly places to skydive on the planet. Enjoy spectacular views of one of Table Mountain, Langebaan lagoon, Robben Island, Cape Point and the city of Cape Town.

10. Wollongong

NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA

The dive here is directly over North Wollongong beach where skydivers can even see (if they’re lucky) whales and dolphins while enjoying the coastal views of southern Sydney beaches. The landing spot for skydivers is in the Stuart Park where people can also enjoy several outdoor recreation and social gatherings.

11. Queenstown

SOUTH ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND

As New Zealand’s action and adrenalin hub, its natural beauty provides the perfect backdrop for many adventure sports. Nestled on the shore of the South Island’s Lake Wakatipu and against the majestic Southern Alps, a perfect place for skydiving aficionados the world over as it is deemed as the adventure capital of the world.

12. Denarau

FIJI

Fiji is a tropical paradise with palm trees, crystal clear waters and white sand beaches. The best way to see it all… leap out of a small plane from thousands of feet up of course. Enjoy a colorful drink with your friends after landing safely.

13. The Great Barrier Reef

QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

The Great Barrier Reef claims the trophy for being the world’s biggest single structure made by living organisms. This reef can be seen from outer space and is comprised of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands supporting a diversity of marine life. An extraordinary skydiving opportunity for those brave enough to try.

14. Pattaya

THAILAND

Said to be the only skydiving drop zone in Southeast Asia, Pattaya is located about an hour from Bangkok. Pickups from Bangkok are available so there’s no problem going back to Bangkok or other places you’ve rented accommodation for.

15. Kamchatka Peninsula

RUSSIA

One of the most spectacular regions in Russia opened for visiting foreigners in 1991. A skydiving experience here will most certainly be different from that one usually experience in the US and Europe. Skydivers will encounter volcanoes, as the peninsula has than 160 volcanoes, (29 of which are active), and is not for first-time divers.

16. Palm Jumeirah

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

An artificial archipelago in United Arab Emirates, Palm Jumeirah is now being known as one of the best skydiving destinations in the world. Dubai lives up to its reputation as an action-spots capital. Instead of mountains, glaciers or forests, skydivers will see the Persian Gulf and the whole of Dubai during their freefall.

17. Seville

SPAIN

A one-of-a-kind city in Spain, Seville offers great nightlife, amazing food, and rich history. It is also one of the must-try skydiving drop zones for skydivers. Enjoy skydiving here with views of the oceans and sunny Andalusia.

18. Le Marche

ITALY

One of twenty regions with white-pebble, cliff-backed bays along the Adriatic, Le Marche is a gem. With a bird’s eye vantage point, skydivers will have an awesome view of the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea.

19. Tyrol

AUSTRIA

Tyrol boasts spectacular mountain scenery in the beautiful alpine region which is perfect for skydiving and any skydiving enthusiasts. Dubbed as the “Country of the Mountains”, an apt description for the many mountains and valleys of the region.

20. Interlaken

SWITZERLAND

JUMP THE SWISS ALPS! Start off with a breathtaking 20-minute scenic flight over the Swiss Alps followed by a flip, barrel roll or straight jump out of the airplane. Enjoy the extreme 45-second freefall at 200km/h, followed by the fun and scenic canopy ride back to the ground.

The winter skydives can be fairly cold but so stunning. The summer can get pretty hot so maybe come for a skydive in summer!

21. Texel

NETHERLANDS

Texel is the largest island of the West Frisian Islands in the north of the Netherlands. Jump out over the Scandinavian waters with spectacular views on a clear day.

This is a popular spot for seasoned skydivers, with regular competitions and exhibitions.

22. Rio de Janeiro

BRAZIL

Skydiving in Rio de Janeiro gives you views of the city’s unmistakable landmarks such as the Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf mountain. A view most people only get to experience from a cable car or a hike up a hill.
